MUN involve me ,teaches research, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. When we participate in Model UN conferences, referred to as delegates, are placed in committees and assigned countries, or occasionally other organizations or political figures, to represent.MUN is an educational simulation competition/game in which participants learn about UN, international relations, diplomacy and improve their public speaking, debating and research skills. So I try myself as a real diplomat, decision-maker.
MUN is a place where I got broad experience in international debates and a
lot of positive emotions. Being an active member of the MUN conferences and sessions I
experienced my debating skills as well as public speaking, in addition, MUN provided me
with valuable leadership abilities
MUN is a fun way of learning about the world and develop leadership skills while fostering your research, public speaking and teamwork skills to win the hot debates on international topics. MUN is the perfect way to feel and act like a real diplomat!
MUN is an excellent tool of non-formal education which contributes to
development of our knowledge on International relations and politics as well as
improvement of interpersonal, oratory, writing and diplomacy skills
MUN is knowledge sharing, improving skills, discussing and learning. It is doing new researches in each conference, updating existing knowledge, discussing different topics and realizing different perspectives. MUN is also meeting with new people, leraning from experienced MUNers and become a MUNster. MUN is freindship. MUN is family where all are strangers before and become a member of kindness and big family.
Mun is a way for me to express myself, way to avoid fear in public speaking. Mun is also helps as to learn working in groups and finding a compromise but in my opinion the most important feature of Mun is sharing same thoughts and being a family.
MUN has succeeded to establish a solid community consisted of young, intelligent and dedicated people from various spheres. People, who are capable of making real advancements toward development. I do believe that, MUN will continue to unite brilliant minds and expand its horizons.
A turning point in my life in the sphere of non-formal education and self-development process was my first interview held by the Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan. It is the moment when i have understood that i am applying for something great, useful and remarkable in my life. The value of Mun for me i can not describe with one single word...it is almost impossible.MUN allowed me to be a diplomat, who can feel the fate of humanity in the palm of my hands and to be aware that each decision we have taken have many implications.MUN has taught me so many values, the essence of friendship and peace, made me rise as a more beautiful and confident person and made me more human.I have gained so many valuable friends during the conferences... but at the same time not just friends but bright minds and marvelous ideas.Participating in MUN has opened my mind and helped me to discover pressing issues in the world.
MUN experience is not only essential for International Relations students, but for all
students studying fields, because besides political debates, it enriches your outlook in different
spheres of today's society, as well as develops skills such as public speaking, communication skills,
research and other abilities that are necessary for students who want to make their future career more
successful and professional.
First of all MUN means family to me, big family without discrimination and full of friendly people. I've learned from MUN so much more than i expected - public speaking, negotiating, most important one i've learned how to share my ideas without fear of being wrong. MUN means experience to me.
From my point of view, it is the exact place where all facts you know from different sides can
be valuable and helpful. To be a good MUNer you have to have different information from diplomacy,
economy, geography even a little unimportant fact about your country which can give you an advantage
over other delegates. Along with all these facts, MUN also gives you chance to improve your different
personal skills, and of course how to affect others to change their own mind which I like the most.
With participating in MUN projects, I understood the diplomacy in deeper way, how to protect yourself and your country in difficult situations, how to exchange your thoughts with other people and get the best solutions to the given topic.
MUN is a very useful experience for diplomacy and political sciences students
in order to improve their research, negotiations, public speaking, document drafting and other
similar skills. Certainly, behaving like a diplomat facilitates students to have an explicit and
real understanding of how international organizations do work. MUNs do not only make you
to be more sensitive about the politics and not to ignore things happening around the globe.
Every MUN is a new stage in your lifetime; you meet a lot of intelligent, smart, fun and cool
people, you make friends who are your potential future colleagues at the same time. You
leave every conference with superb memories and knowledge, skills and values gained - you
can see the difference by each MUN.
MUN is a perfect space for learning skills, that for sure will be useful in future, regardless of your field of studies. I learned a lot since i started participating and gained a lot of experience, like working with a huge group of people at the same time and properly deliever them my opinion and my point view. The thing I absolutely love about MUN is that people with totally different educational backgrounds, from Law to Chemical Engineering, manage to gather, debate and together find proper solutions. We all are different, yet we have 1 thing in common-huge desire for becoming better and changing the world. And this desire brings complete strangers together, unites us and makes us one big family
MUN is an opportunity for us to try ourselves as diplomats. To think over global issues, to find solutions to problems in the shoes of those politicians whose countries we represent. As in the battle we need to know all strong and weak points of ourselves (the countries we represent) and the ones in opposition.
MUN simulations gave me very valuable experience and greate
practice in sphere of politics, international relations, cyber security regulations,
at the same time sharing exciting and unforgettable moments with
representatives of different countries and nations all over the world. MUN
simulations showed that people should solve the global problems by working
together collaborating with each other regardless of geographical boundaries,
racial difference etc.
MUN taught us to be diplomats, to feel the weight of humanity in the palm of our hands, and to know that each decision we take have many implications.MUN has me realize that we, teenagers are powerful and our ideas can save the world or destroy it. MUN has taught me so many things, the essence of friendship and peace, made me grow into a more beautiful and confident person and made me more human. It has been by far, the best experience ever and MUN is still fresh in my mind.
Participation in MUN conferences contributes students’ personal experience. There is an
opportunity for getting engaged in team work, making decisions, making a speech and showing
diplomatic skills in preparing formal documents and negotiate during MUN sessions. Furthermore,
simulations give a chance to gain new friends. I believe that, having a MUN experience students will
be motivated for their future work in various international organizations.
MUN opens up a whole new world of opportunities to express yourself, listen to the opinions of others, cooperate, gain in-depth knowledge in different fields and explore your skills, talents and interests.
“I think Model UN conferences deepen our understanding of the world; you feel the
difference between reading about global policymaking from the books and being a part of it.
Once you participate at MUN, you cannot ignore the things happening around the world
anymore. MUNs also make us confident and help us to develop important values and skills, such
as the ability to respond to different issues in a productive manner. At the same time, every
conference is a chance to meet a lot of intelligent, smart and fun people, and make new friends.”
MUN equals reality of the world. You can explore the world, understand
varied questions in your mind and learn the reasons of international misunderstandings
between countries. Last but not least, you can find yourself with attending, supporting MUN
During MUN simulation sessions, we employed, developed and improved a
variety of communication and critical thinking skills in order to represent the countries.
These skills include public speaking, small group communications, research, policy analysis,
active listening, negotiating, conflict resolution, note taking, and technical writing. These
skills are extremely valuable in my opinion. Moreover, I have got many-many new friends
from all over the world and extended my network which is also very valuable
Model UN is a place where one can discover his weaknesses and strengths,
get an opportunity to discover different ideas on diverse issues, develop critical thinking
ability and more importantly establish new friendships
Being participant at MUN simulation games, developed my UN practical
knowledge which was important for my future education. Moreover, it’s interesting that
you feel very special when all MUN members working on proposals or discussing to find
happy middle of the situation or conflict. You feel you are doing great job! At the end, I can
totally say that MUN changes the way of thinking , now you can have different aspects of
any topic, as well as sitting around the same table with some international people making
brain storming is another self confidence
By participating Model UN, first of all I have learned to be very attentive
because when another delegate speaks on his position related to the topic you must do
notes from his speech for yourself. Also I've learned to be loyal to the points of view of
others and to find a compromise on the topic. It's very interesting to discuss and get
acquainted with the problems of other countries and try to solve them. During breaks you
can meet people of different cultures, make new friends which is very beneficial for people,
cause nowadays we live in a global world and to my mind multicultural communication is
one of the main things which will enable people to solve problems
My educational background became a good foundation for changing my
attitude toward conflicts happening in the world. Moreover, I realized that Peacemaker is
the profession that perfectly matches my personality and goals, and gives me the ability to
fulfill my lifelong dream of making a significant impact on our society through civil service.
MUN gives us opportunity to step into the shoes of ambassadors from different countries to
debate current issues on the organization's agenda. I claim that no matter where you are,
you are part of a larger Model UN community. You have a connection with people doing
MUN provides a direct access to a platform to truly sense one’s global identity. It proved
an invaluable experience to be opened up to challenges of working within a unique environment of
multinational institutions relentlessly demanding strong skills of teambuilding, effective communication,
persuasion, a shrewd observation. In a nutshell, for young professionals envisioning a career behind
doors of foreign policy departments, international organizations, MUN is a chance like no other to have
the first taste of multilateral diplomacy, live through and enjoy its challenges. MUN also gave me an
opportunity to meet people from all over the world and extended my network which is also very valuable.
My MUN journey started at Baku 2013 which has been new yet a life-changing experience for me, which is
still going on. Considering the UN's important role in world issues, MUN simulations are great way for
students who interested in IR, political, economical aspects of world problems, environment etc to get to
know the UN structure as well. I have been lucky enough to volunteer in the role of Chair in UN HQ for the
first time. I will take part being in charge of Logistics for the conferences in UN, every March from now on.
For me, MUN conferences are not limited with preparing students as future Diplomats, but also give the
opportunity to express their ideas in front of a huge auditorium, work in team, meet with real diplomats,
politicians, makers and talk to the, learn leadership and public speaking skills that all are significant
characteristics in their future careers.
I have learned a lot from diplomatic way of speaking to preparing a
working paper for draft resolution during my participations in different Model
United Nations. These simulation games help us to practice what we have learned
from books and make us feel like real diplomats. In addition, you can make new
friends from all over the world, you can exchange ideas and finally you will have a
wonderful experience that you cannot forget.
MUN played an important role in improvement of effective communication,
negotiation, and argumentation skills. Generally, Model UN helped me not only to develop
my existing theoretical knowledge and getting new cognitions, but also to improve public
speaking skills, real diplomatic platform, and English language skills. Furthermore, MUN
gave me new friends and it is very valuable for me
